Deputy Sports Minister, NSA Board Chair Reinstated
President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo has reinstated the Deputy Minister for Youth and Sports, Pius Enam Hadzide, and the Chairperson of the Board of the National Sports Authority, Kwadwo Baah Agyeman.
In a statement signed by the Jubilee House Director of Communications, Eugene Arhin, the Criminal Investigation Department (CID) of the Ghana Police Service had cleared them of any wrongdoing in regards to the “Australia Visa Scandal” saga.
“The report of the enquiry into the allegations, which was submitted to the President on Friday, 6th July, 2018, contained no adverse findings against them,” the statement read.
Three officials; Deputy Minister for Youth and Sports, Pius Enam Hadzide; the acting Director General of the National Sports Authority, Hon. Robert Sarfo Mensah and the former Member of Parliament for Asante Akyem North, Hon. Kwadwo Baah Agyeman were accused of visa fraud that saw at least 50 Ghanaians posing as journalists in Australia for the 2018 Commonwealth Games.
President Akufo-Addo in April suspended the officials and requested the assistance of the Chef-de Maison for the Commonwealth, Mr Mohammed Sahnoon to assist in investigations into the Visa racketeering scandal.
