On 8th October 2022, Divine Peace Maternity Home organised a free breast cancer awareness and screening exercise in collaboration with the Madina MP, Francis Xavier-Sosu, and the Assemblyman of the Danfa Electoral Area, Charles Kotei.
The screening targeted women in the Kweiman-Danfa-Otinibi areas and featured an awareness creation exercise, a critical pillar in health promotion and public health at large.
This breast cancer awareness led to a visit of 50 households, interactive flyers were handed out to residents encountered on the streets, whiles hammering on the dangers associated with breast cancer.
Back at the facility, 38 women aged between 20 and 45 were examined and none showed symptoms of breast cancer, afterwards, post-test counseling was given to each present.
Mr. Sosu used the screening to underscore the importance of early detection of breast cancer saves lives, he added how that is probable only when women get screened and seek professional help.
He also thanked the facility for the awareness and the organsing the screening exercise.
The administrator of the facility Obed Kwashie Abaloo assured of more health promotion events in the locality.
Mr. Abaloo also called on local businesses and corporations in Ghana to continue supporting health and social projects in the communities.
