DJ Switch Beats Vyrusky, Others …To Emerge As 2019 Best

Young and talented disc jockey, DJ Switch, has been crowned as the ‘Best DJ of the Year’ at the 2019 Ghana DJ Awards. She beat other top DJs in the country, including DJ Mic-Smith, DJ Vyrusky, DJ Sly, DJ Aroma and DJ Black to win the slot. 

The highly-billed event came off at the Accra International Conference Centre (AICC) and saw performances from 2019 VGMA Best New Artist of the Year, Wendy Shay, Eno Barony and other arts.

By this award, she has become the youngest individual to win the Best DJ of the Year award, barely a year on after winning the ‘Discovery of the Year’ award in 2018. She also won the Best Female DJ Award.

Switch, known in her private life as Erica Armah Bra-Bulu Tandoh, came into the limelight after being crowned winner of Talented Kids 2017.

She had since gone on to perform at international events, including opening the Bill and Melinda Gates’ Foundation’s annual Goalkeepers event in New York before numerous world leaders.

She recently founded The DJ Switch Foundation, advocating for quality education, adequate health care, gender equality and sustainable development.

Ghana DJ Awards is a Merqury Republic initiative owned by DJ and radio presenter, Merqury Quaye of Accra-based radio station, Hitz FM. The award scheme is the only kind in Ghana that celebrates and appreciates the talents of Disc Jockeys (DJs) who promote Ghana music.
