Doctor Begs for Support
DR. KWODWO Eyeson, Head of the Dialysis Unit at the Komfo Anokye Teaching Hospital (KATH), in Kumasi, is virtually on his knees, begging for public support for the top medical facility.
He was of the view that government could not single-handedly provide logistics and all the needed materials to hospitals in the country; and subsequently entreated all public-spirited individuals and corporate organizations to offer a helping hand to reposition hospitals in the country to render quality healthcare to the people.
Dr. Eyeson, who had for several years used his links across the globe to solicit for support for KATH, was speaking during KATH’s annual Reception for Heads of Directorates/Units and Special Awards Ceremony in Kumasi.
The occasion was used by management to honour philanthropists and KATH staff, who have over the years; either donated or used their links to secure donations of medical equipment to the hospital.
Those the hospital rewarded included Dr. Kwodwo Eyeson; Dr. Kwaku Oteng, CEO, Angel Group of Companies; Prefos Ltd, Unique Royal Club, Dr. Ernest Opuni, Dr. Seth Lartey and Mrs. Marina Assabil, DDNS, Surgery Directorate.
Even though the CEO of KATH, Dr. Oheneba Owusu-Danso, lauded many individuals and institutions for their assistance in the past in diverse ways, he said KATH still need more support; adding that the presentation of certificates to the selected individuals and organizations, was to motivate others to support KATH.
The Board Chairman of KATH, Nana Effah Ampenten, who is also the Bompatahene, assured that Board members would in their own small way offer the needed support to help the hospital’s management to succeed.
