Doing Music in Ghana is Hard – Rose Adjei Reveals
Musician Rose Adjei has revealed to the general public and followers of music how hard, stress, and disadvantage it is for a person to involve himself or herself in the music business.
According to her, it becomes harder when the individual is a woman because one can blew up with a very hit song and while basking in the euphoria, promised to release even more bigger hits but unfortunately, Ghanaians will eventually ignore fellow up works.
As to why the situation is so, Rose Adjei said Ghanaians generally fall in love with a musician’s first hit and wait for something bigger than that and once you are not able to do so you are easily forgotten.
‘’For instance it will be difficult for one musician to release a song bigger than previous ones. It will take a long time for any musician to release songs which will overcome his previous hit. Ghanaians will eventually fade you out of the system’’– she said.
After two successful albums, Rose Adjei speaking to the PUBLISHER NEWSPAPER revealed , she is preparing to release a new Album under RAM records – Rose’s own record label.
First single out on promotion from the yet to be released Album is M’adansedie (my testimony) , making waves in the media space produced by De Thompson.
Currently working on her own, Rose Adjei has been in the gospel music industry for over five years now she has encouraged, motivated, inspired and blessed many with such beautiful tracks as ‘Nyame Ye’ with De Thompson, ‘Agya W’ahw3 me so’ with Opiesie Esther – on her first album, and on her second – ‘Nsrehehe’ ft. Omane Acheampong as well as ‘Lift him high’ with Voltage.
On her views on the current crop of gospel music, she revealed that the industry is now competitive and everyone is trying something challenging especially when it comes to video shoots.
Commenting on some challenges and difficulties in the industry, she disclosed that it is most difficult as a young artist. “when it comes to new recording artists coming into the system we don’t have people to help them because everybody wants somebody who is famous, somebody who already has a name so that they can push…”, she lamented.
He explained that songs that reign for a long time like that of Patience Nyarko’s Obi Nyanime, it needs serious promotion and even that is not a guarantee that it will work.
According to her, for a song to gain massive attention and visibility in Ghana, several churches must relate to it. Top trending latest gospel songs in Ghana 2018 are songs you will hear in several churches’ playlist on the same Sunday morning. It’s from here that it sprouts. The latest gospel songs in Ghana have everyone singing along across the denominations. It’s a universal language of praise with beautiful harmonies that are a gift to the ears.
