Musician Stephen Fiawoo popularly known as Praye Tiatia has warned dancehall artiste Shatta Wale to desist from his continuous disrespect to his predecessors in the music Industry.
According to him, some legendary musicians, including Reggie Rockstone, pioneered great artistry work with their blood, sweat and passion and a downplay of their efforts from Shatta Wale would not be accepted.
His comment follows Shatta Wale’s jabs that Reggie Rockstone and most A-list artistes are ‘broke’.
Shatta Wale in an interview on UTV over the weekend said all hiplife artistes in Ghana are poor and that if they do not agree with him, they should come out to fight him.
Reacting to this in an interview with Halifax Ansah-Addo on the ‘Best Entertainment Show’ Wednesday morning, Praye Tiatia who is a member of Hiplife group PRAYE said Shatta Wale’s statement is disrespectful, lame and has no basis.
“It’s a very nice idea in terms of whatever he is fighting for, I agree to that, things have to change in respect to the music Industry, that’s a fair game and everyone will agree with you but my issue is on the side of his continuous disrespect. The manner in which he presents the issue is what I have problem with. Poverty to me is even debatable. My major problem is the manner in which Shatta is handling this issue, the insults, defamatory characters are my concern” he said.
He added, “Most of the people Shatta keeps on insulting, disrespecting and attacking their personal selves, most of them are even older than him. There are some he came to meet in the Industry, some have children and are role models as well. We all know there are issues in the Industry, there are several and beautiful ways he can go about than devoid of insults.
“The likes of Reggie, Obrafour, Tic-Tac have worked very hard to save this industry. The hard work of these legends paved way for the Industry he (Shatta) is enjoying from today so he can’t disrespect them like that. He’s making it sound as if we can’t feed ourselves, meanwhile we are okay with living standard. He has a good agenda but a very wrong approach.”
