Don’t let Bawumia regret making you his running mate – Otumfuo to NAPO

The King of the Asante, Otumfuo Osei Tutu II as admonished his son, Dr Mathew Opoku Prempeh not to make the flag-bearer of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Dr Mahamudu Bawumia regret settling on him as his running mate for the 2024 polls.

Otumfuo who described the trained Medical Doctor and Member of Parliament (MP) for Manhyia South Constituency as his son, urged him to listen to Dr Bawumia and learn from him.

According to him, he played a critical role in the formative years of Dr. Mathew Opoku Prempeh and as far as he is concerned, he trained him very well and therefore asked the flag-bearer of the NPP to alert him if Dr Mathew Opoku Prempeh goes astray in the course of their association

He added that Dr Mathew Opoku Prempeh should not upstage his boss but rather learn from his footsteps.

“Don’t let Dr Bawumia regret the decision to make you his running mate. You should be diligent and humble and listen to instructions from him. Be humble and do the work diligently for me. Have a listening ear.

I’ve heard people say you are arrogant and I question myself because since your childhood I’ve not known you to be arrogant. I won’t agree with what people are saying but it is up to you to prove them wrong. We will pray for you to ensure that what God has for you will be made reality.

I will leave him to Dr Bawumia to train him. If there is any challenge please my doors are open so let me know so that I can talk to him. I thank the Regional Chairman for working with my grandson. As you campaign, be clear with your message because other political parties are also selling their message. If you do that and they also do that, Ghanaians will be able to make a choice and choose who they want to lead in the 2024 elections,” Otumfuo Osei Tutu II told the NPP.
