Driver sends armed robbers after his boss …one killed, three arrested

A professional driver by name ‘Awoloh’ is in hot waters as he has been arrested for masterminding a robbery operation against his boss, who is a miner at Oseikrom in the Ashanti Region.

The driver, identified as Emmanuel alias ‘Awoloh’, allegedly engaged some robbers to rob his boss and his colleagues, who are miners on Thursday, December 2, 2021.

However, luck eluded the bandits, who were armed-to-the-teeth, as one of them was shot dead during a gun battle with the police.

Two other suspects were nabbed later on.

The suspects, Richard Nkrumah aka ‘Paa Yaw’ and Alex Appiah aka ‘Ameley’, were arrested at their hideout after the gun battle, following police intelligence-operation.

“The two suspects mentioned one Emanuel alias ‘Awoloh’, a driver of the miners, as the one who masterminded the robbery operation”, ACP Kwesi Ofori has disclosed.

ACP Kwesi Ofori, Director General, Public Affairs, in a press release, said Paa Yaw, Ameley and Emmanuel, the driver, have since been caged to assist in investigations.

He said the robbers attacked the miners around 7:30am and a police patrol team, after receiving a distress call, rushed to the crime scene to prevent the robbery.

ACP Ofori noted that before the police could get close the robbers, they (robbers) started to shoot at them, and it forced the police, who were under attack, to shoot back.

During the gun battle, he said, one of the robbers was shot dead and the others fled the scene, adding, Paa Yaw and Ameley were nabbed later and they assisted to arrest Emmanuel.

ACP Ofori said the body of the deceased robber has since been deposited in a morgue for autopsy, adding that the Ashanti Regional Police have done a yeoman work.
