Driver’s Mate Dies In Aboabo Crash

A driver’s mate was killed on Monday after a tipper truck he was travelling on failed its brakes and fell on three other cars at Aboabo, a suburb of Kumasi.

The truck, which was loaded with bags of charcoal and plantain, fell on its side and trapped the three vehicles, eyewitnesses said.

First responders say the mate died instantly while the driver was badly injured. The deceased, a staunch Muslim, was taken to a nearby mosque, and later buried according to Islamic traditions.

No other occupant of the other cars was hurt. Meanwhile, there was a massive demonstration on the streets of Aboabo, few minutes after the gory accident.

Angry youth in the area, reportedly, blocked the busy road and burnt car tyres, amidst threats.

According to them, their roads had been neglected by government, and attributed the crash to the bad nature of their roads.
