Dumsor Torments K’si Residents

UNSTABLE POWER supply is reportedly causing nightmarish experiences for most of the residents of Kumasi, in the Ashanti region.

Even though power supply in the region has improved generally, as compared to the era of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) administration, there have been frequent power cuts in the supply of power in the region lately, and this is making living uncomfortable for many people.

Several residents of Kumasi, especially businessmen, have complained bitterly about how the power cuts were adversely affecting their businesses.

According to them, their major worry was that, such cuts were done without prior notice.

Some Cold Store operators, who spoke to the paper, said their businesses were gradually crumbling due to power cuts.

Kwaku Ofori, a Cold Store Operator said even though the NPP administration has done far better, as compared to the NDC era, they are not pleased with the current trend.

“Under the NDC there was total darkness, also known as ‘Dumsor’, but this government has worked tirelessly to stop that and they deserve applause.

“Unfortunately, the power cuts are becoming too many in the region lately and it is affecting our businesses so the government must be told to sit up”.

Other residents also complained that, and noted that frequent power cuts have the potential increase in incidence of violent crimes in the region.
