Minister of Energy, Peter Amewu has said, the recent total blackout that spearheaded parts of the country is going to be over in the next five days.
According to him, the current challenge has been as a result of technical challenges and the construction of an interchange at Pokuase in Accra.
Some places including Lapaz, Abeka, Sowutum, Kasoa, Tema, Kwashieman, Odorkor, Awoshie and parts of northern Ghana recently faced total blackout for several hours.
The unfortunate blackout comes weeks after the Electricity Company of Ghana handed over operations of the company to Power Distribution Services (PDS).
The Minister however addressing the media at the Pokuase sub station where he visited some sub stations in parts of Accra said the challenges will be rectified within the next five days in order for power distribution to be normalized.
“Definitely because of the construction work (Pokuase interchange) that is ongoing, there is the need for them to halt the transmission of power for this period and so these are some of the problems but my expectation is that it is going to be completed withing five days. But we have put in place measures to minimize the impact,” he told the media.
