The Electoral Commission (EC) has taken a dive into the past to fetch its original logo which was contentiously changed by its boss, Charlotte Osei.
Henceforth, the supposed controversial $500,000 multi-coloured logo ceases to be the commission’s official emblem whiles the ‘coat of arms’ symbol takes over.
This shocking revelation was contained in a Memo sighted by the PUBLISHER, yesterday.
According to the EC’s chairperson, Mrs. Jean Mensa, “Effective December 4, 2018, the original logo of the Electoral Commission, which bears the coat of arms and has a ballot box showing the hand casting its vote, has been restored.”
She added that the core values of the Commission, namely integrity, fairness and accountability, have duly been restored.
It could be recalled that former EC boss, Mrs. Charlotte Osei, even in the midst of public outcry, went ahead to introduce a new logo with the intent to rebrand the commission.
“That is our new logo. We liked it, we picked it and it makes us happy,” Mrs Osei had said during the launch of the logo in 2017.
Mrs. Osei was later removed from office following allegations of misconduct and breach of procurement laws, and subsequently replaced by Mrs. Mensa.
According to the memo, the EC has instructed the immediate removal of the old logo from all buildings and properties of the commission adding that, “this will subsequently be replaced.”
“All communication from the EC must from today, be made on the letter head bearing the original logo of the commission as appears on the face of this letter head. Reams of letter heads are to be picked from the stores of the commission,” the Memo read.
