The Electoral Commission of Ghana (EC) has announced the opening of nominations for the Mfantseman constituency.
This has become necessary as a result of the demise of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) Parliamentary Candidate for the Mfantseman Constituency Ekow Quansah Hayord.
The EC in a statement said it will on Tuesday October 20 and Wednesday October 21 receive nominations for the Mfantseman Constituency.
In accordance with Regulations 13, Sub-regulation (4) of Public Elections Regulations, 2020 (C.I 127), “Where at the close of nominations, but before the election, one of the Candidate dies, a further period of ten (10) days shall be allowed for nominations.”
The Electoral Commission is therefore extending the nomination period for the Mfantseman Constituency of the Central Region to allow for the replacement of the Candidate.
The Commission further states that any person who intends to contest for the Parliamentary Election should send his or her filled Nomination Form to the Returning Officer of the Mfantseman Constituency, at the Mfantseman District Office of the Electoral Commission on the above dates.
The Returning Officer shall receive all Nominations between the hours of 7.00am and 5.00pm on both days.
