Minister of Information, Mustapha Hamid has debunked remours making rounds that the sacking of the Chairperson of the Electoral Commission (EC) Charlotte Osei and her two deputies; Amadu Sully and Georgina Opoku Amankwa I has some political oriented.
According to him, President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo acted based on the findings of the report by the committee set up to investigate allegations filed against the EC Chair and her deputies on the misappropriation of funds.
Mustapha Hamid described people who are making such rumors that the decision to sack Madam Charlotte Osei and get executives as a political affair, are persons who do not “seek the welfare of the country”.
The conclusion by the committee spearheaded by Chief Justice Sophia Akuffo found the officials guilty while describing their inept actions as “absurd”, “gross incompetence”, “misconduct” as well as “abuse of office”.
At a media briefing earlier today, Mustapha Hamid said,
“This removal of the Chairperson of the EC and her two deputies, has nothing to do with the President, his government, the NPP, or indeed, any political party.”
He further indicated that, President Akufo-Addo is a President for Mother Ghana and not a political party, either will he malign his office to a level to favor one side.
