Mr. Daniel Fenyi, renowned counselor and educationist, has taken pains to explain the double track school system to the general public who seem confused about the entire concept.
Speaking to HOPE 107.1 FM last Tuesday morning, he said SHS students will be divided into two (2) tracks; Track A and Track B. The educationist broke down the school days and holidays for each Track as follows.
Track A
Sept, Oct, (Nov, Dec) Jan, Feb, Mar, April, (May, Jun), Jul, Aug
Track B
(Sept, Oct,) Nov, Dec, Jan, Feb, (Mar, Apr), May, Jun, Jul, Aug
Months in brackets (…) are holidays/vacation.
Mr. Daniel Fenyi indicated that for January, February,…, July, August—- both tracks will meet on campus. And that will automatically mean the SHS 2 students will go home for vacation.
According to the respected educationist, four(4) months holidays in 3 years make 12 months equivalent to 1 year. Which means, under the double track system, students will be in school for 2 years.
Mr. Daniel Fenyi insinuated that it is hypocritical of the NPP government to introduce a 2-year SHS when they introduced a 4-year SHS in 2007 arguing that 3 years in SHS was insufficient.
Mr. Daniel Fenyi again emphasised that it is economically unwise to make teachers, the most populated profession in the formal sector, to stay home for 4 months while paying them.
