A Girls In ICT project meant to empower girls with knowledge in Information Technology (IT) and also expose them to enormous opportunities that exist outside their line of scope has been inaugurated by the Effutu Libraries in the Central Region.
The Effutu Libraries comprises of some 15 fully-equipped modern libraries funded by Alexander Afenyo-Markin for students and pupils in the Effutu Constituency.
Afenyo-Markin is Member of Parliament for Effutu and his Constituency is on official record to have the largest number of libraries in the entire country.
The Girls In ICT program was held at the Atakyedu Library in the Effutu Constituency over the weekend and as part of the event, had a demonstration on how to use computers to conduct academic research.
Present at the ceremony were Ms Micah-Bondzi, the headmistress of Atakyedu Basic school, Mr Rockson head of IT, the branch head of Atakyedu Mr Yorke and the Municipal Librarian, Ms Gifty Sey.
Also there was a talk on Adolescent Reproductive Health by Madam Bernice and Madam Mercy from Ghana Health Service after which the Municipal Librarian, Ms Gifty Sey donated Sanitary Pads to the girls.
