Egyptian Giants Zamalek Settles Agogo Debt

Egyptian giants Zamalek is reported to have paid the $450,000 debt owed former Ghana international Junior Agogo in order to avoid severe sanctions from Fifa.

Zamalek, who currently sit top of the Egyptian top-flight would have suffered points deduction if they had failed to settle the debt.

Last week, Zamalek were given a fresh 90-day ultimatum by Fifa to pay Junior Agogo after their appeal at Court of Arbitration for Sports (Cas) was thrown out.

Agogo made a shock move to Zamalek from English side Nottingham Forest in 2008 after his impressive showing at the African Cup of Nations on home soil despite strong interest from top clubs in France and Turkey.

But nine months later Agogo terminated his contract over unpaid salaries and reported the club to FIFA.
