Former President of the Ghana Football Association(GFA), Kwasi Nyantakyi was on Saturday April 6, 2024 cleared by the Vetting Committee of the New Patriotic Party(NPP), to contest in the Parliamentary Primary in the Ejisu Constituency ahead of the by-election.
The Committee led by the Ashanti Regional Chairman, Bernard Kwame Antwi Boasiako with support from three other members including Joseph Dankwah Boaitey National First Vice Chairman of the NPP, Madam Patricia Appiagyei, MP for Asokwa and Deputy Majority Leader and Evans Nimako, Director for Research and Elections at the NPP Headquarters
All nine aspirants vetted and all declared qualified to contest, balloted for positions and positions on the ballot paper were also declared as follows;

2) Dr Evans Duah
3)Kingsley Karikari Mensah
4) Helena Mensah,
5)Abena Pokuaa,
6)Portia Abronye
Acheampong
7)Kwasi Nyantakyi
8)Aaron Prince Duah
9)Maame Yaa Aboagye.
The vetting committee wished all the aspirants well but further urged them to desist from any acts that will bring the name of the party into disrepute and further urge them to conduct their campaigns in a decorous manner to avoid internal conflicts.
The New Patriotic Party(NPP) has set the Parliamentary Primaries for the Ejisu Constituency ahead of the By-election for April 13, 2024
The seat became vacant after the late Member of Parliament(MP) and Deputy Finance Minister, Dr. John Kumah passed died on March 7, 2024, at Suhum in the Eastern Region while his way to Accra to be airlifted oustide the country for treatment.
John Kumah is said to have suffered from a terminal illness since last year resulting in his death.
