El-Clasico: Suarez Hits Hat-Trick For Barcelona

Luis Suarez stepped up in the absence of Lionel Messi to score a hat-trick in a humiliating El Clasico for Real Madrid and their beleaguered head coach Julen Lopetegui.

Barcelona controlled the first period with ease, building a two-goal lead by the break through Philippe Coutinho and a Suarez penalty awarded by a Video Assistant Referee review.

Both sides started brightly but it was Barcelona who got the opening goal in the 11th minute through Phillipe Coutinho who comfortably tapped home in the unguarded net after a low cross from Jordi Alba.

19 minutes later, Lui Suarez doubled the Blaugrana’s lead from a penalty spot, which was awarded on VAR consultation, the Uruguayan drilled the ball low and hard into the left bottom corner.

Real Madrid gaffer substituted ineffective Verane for Lucas Vazquez who helped reduce the deficit after Marcelo controlled perfectly struck home a loose ball five minutes from the break.

The visitors created decent chances to restore parity in the game but it was Valverde’s men who extended their lead following an exquisite header from Suarez in the 74th minute after being picked out by Sergi Roberto.

The skipper of Real Madrid, Ramos lost the ball in midfield in the 83rd minute and Barcelona capitalised on it through Suarez who chipped home to complete his hat-trick in the game.

Substitute Arturo Vidal completed the damage with a superb header which beat Courtois to make the scoreline 5-1
