Flag-bearers of the two leading political parties in Ghana, the New Patriotic Party (NPP) and the National Democratic Congress (NDC) NDC would today, Monday September 9 be filing their respective nomination forms at the Electoral Commission as a pre-requisite to contest the December 7 presidential elections.
Vice President Mahamadu Bawumia, flag-bearer of the NPP announced on his official Facebook wall that his would be filing his nomination this morning and this was subsequently confirmed by a statement from the Party’s General Secretary.
Former President John Mahama, on his part, made the announcement on his Facebook wall, where he wrote: “My nomination forms as Presidential Candidate of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), with Professor Jane Naana Opoku-Agyemang as Vice Presidential Candidate, will be formally submitted to the Electoral Commission on Monday at 2.00 pm.
The submission of the forms by our National Chairman, Johnson Asiedu Nketiah, represents a pivotal step in our campaign for change on December 7. We are all in this together, working with Ghanaians to RESET Ghana’s economy and ‘Build the Ghana we want together’. #Mahama4Change2024 #NDC #LetsBuildGhanaTogether”
Dr. Bawumia, on his Facebook wall Sunday afternoon noted: “God willing tomorrow, 9 September, 2024 the Possibilities bus moves to the Electoral Commission Headquarters at Ridge where my able running mate Dr. Matthew Opoku Prempeh and I will submit and file our 2024 Presidential Election Nomination Forms.
“I will subsequently visit the party Headquarters, Asylum Down at 9am.

A statement from the NPP General Secretary, Justin Kodua Frimpong, gave more details:
“The New Patriotic Party (NPP) is pleased to announce to the general public that the party’s 2024 presidential candidate, H.E. Alhaji Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, will file his presidential nomination on Monday, September 9, 2024, at the Electoral Commission’s headquarters.
“The Vice President and Leader of the Party would be accompanied by his running mate and vice presidential candidate, Hon. Dr. Matthew Opoku Prempeh, the party’s national chairman, the general secretary, the majority leader in Parliament, the national campaign chairman, Mr. Dan Botwe, and a few party leaders.
“After submitting his presidential nomination, the presidential candidate would address party sympathizers and the general public at the party’s national headquarters at 9:00 a.m.
“Members of the Party and the general public are invited to be part of this historic moment of POSSIBILITY in Ghana’s next chapter.
