The former Deputy Minister for Gender and Social Protection, Rachel Florence Nana Adjoa Appoh is set to petition the Chief Justice, Sophia Akuffo over the conduct of the judge at the center of her supposed divorce drama.
According to THE PUBLISHER’s deep throat source, the minister would require the then magistrate Afi Ablah Kudomor to explain why the marriage was dissolved when the couple were not present.
The paper further gathered that a copy of the petition is also on its way to the Canadian embassy to Ghana.
Breach
It said as at the time of the supposed divorce in 2015, Samuel Poku, the husband of the minister was in the United States and could not have been present in Ghana for the annulment of the marriage as required by law.
In the view of the source, Ms Appoh who was then a Member of Parliament and could have easily been traced and served the necessary court documents was also not notified.
The papers source further hinted that the address on the certificate of divorce was wrong because the former Gomoa Central Member of Parliament has never in her life lived at Dansoman, a suburb of Accra.
The Certificate of Divorce quoted Ms. Appoh’s residential address as “Rachel Florence Appoh, H/NO. A.260/12 Dansoman.’
Divorce
The Certificate of Divorce dated October 25, 2016 signed by both Ablah Kudomor as the magistrate and one E. Ayi Bonte as Registrar said the marriage has been dissolved, a claim that makes the whole process fishy.
It stated: “this action having come before this honorable court for hearing and determination and the court having on 25th day of October 2015 entered judgement for the petitioner herein.”
The document further stated: “it is hereby decreed that the marriage had and contracted on the 14th day pf December 2013 at the Church of Pentecost between Samuel Opoku and Rachel Florence Appoh the Respondent herein under the Marriage Ordnance Cap 127 be dissolved on the grounds that the marriage has broken down beyond reconciliation.”
However, the husband of the former Gomoa Central MP, THE PUBLISHER gathered was able to contract the new marriage as a result of fake divorce documents he secured in Ghana while in Canada in 2016s.
For this reason, the Ex Minister has sued her husband in Court for bigamy.
Fresh wife
The plaintiff wants her husband to answer before the matrimonial court why he married one Vanessa Sylvan, a Jamaican-Canadian in Canada when the two are still legally married in Ghana.
Equally liable according to the suit as a defendant is a Director at Foreign Affairs who signed the supposed fictitious documents which aided Samuel to contract the new marriage.
The papers source close to the family insists that Samuel who married Appoh in 2013 is currently based in Canada with his new wife and baby.
Samuel who was the Health and Safety Coordinator for West Africa for Halliburton Oil Company based in Takoradi grabbed the Deputy Minister and love of his life for 13 years in holy matrimony on December 13, 2013 at the Dr. Wayat Church of Pentecost in Accra.
Bigamy
According to reports Rachel met her husband 13 years ago while she was studying at the Cape Coast Polytechnic and dated for about a decade now.
Meanwhile, the paper has sighted pictures of the new love birds celebrating their wedding anniversary with their new baby on Facebook.
When contacted for comments the former Gomoa Central MP declined to comment on the issue except to indicate that the issue in her words “is a private affair”.
She however, did not confirm or deny the fact that her husband has gotten a new wife or either she was part of any court process or procedures annulling her current marriage.
