FORMER ASHANTI Regional Chairman of the opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC), Yaw Obimpeh, is eyeing the seat once again.
He is reported to have announced his ambition to the party members in the region, especially the delegates, who are considered as ‘Kingmakers’ in the party.
Yaw Obimpeh was the chairman of the NDC in the Ashanti Region when the party, unfortunately, lost the 2016 presidential and parliamentary elections.
He was qualified to seek re-election in 2018 when the NDC went to the polls in the Ashanti Region to elect its next batch of executives but Obimpeh, surprisingly, decided to stay aside.
According to reports, after spending four years on the political sidelines, Obimpeh has taken a firm and irreversible decision to return to political limelight once again.
Sources within the NDC have informed THE NEW PUBLISHER that Yaw Obimpeh would surely make a huge impact in the polls, slated for November 12, 2022.
According to them, Yaw Obimpeh is well connected and very popular within the NDC in the Ashanti Region so he could topple Nana Kwasi Andrews, the incumbent chairman.
Meanwhile, the paper has also gathered that more top party members in the region are nursing ambitions to contest for the NDC regional chairman position.
