Excel without Cheating – Council of PTAs tells Candidates

The National Council of Parent-Teacher Associations (NCPTAs) wishing students of the May-June 2018 West African Senior Secondary Examinations (WASSCE) well; urged them not to yield to examination malpractices.

In a statement issued on Wednesday and signed by its President, Mr Alexander Yaw Danso, the Council said, “We seize the opportunity once again to show our unalloyed goodwill and unflinching hope of success for our young ones in pursuit of higher academic attainments for a brighter future.

“The NCPTAs wishes to encourage our children to be bold and not give fear the chance to bog them down.  Rather, they should consider the upcoming examinations as one of their mock examinations and make maximum use of the little time left by increasing the tempo with which the midnight oil is burnt.”

The Council said as parents and teachers, they were worried about the annual recurrence of leakages of examination questions and advised them to avoid unscrupulous people who may deceptively persuade them to access any leaked questions.

“Also, refrain from importing materials that flout WAEC examination rules and regulations into the examination halls. Any such singular act of malpractice has the potential to jeopardise your future as it can lead to the eventual cancellation of examination results or incarceration.”

The Council advised the students to rely solely on what they had been taught by their teachers and learned from other relevant text books and emerge as victors.

“Most of the heroes and heroines of our land and the world at large kept wake over their books, studied hard to attain their laurels,” it noted.

“It is our expectation that you will achieve even greater heights academically simply by dint of hard work.

“Ultimately, we pray for strength, excellent health and the right mental disposition for you throughout the examinations period and evermore.”
