Fame Comes with A Lot of Pressure — KiDi
Fame is a double-edged sword as many of our celebrities are finding out; while the recognition they get opens doors for them, they also have to deal with the invasion of privacy and scrutiny from people and it is no wonder that Hiplife artiste, KiDi, says it comes with a lot of pressure.
In a chat with Showbiz on Tuesday, the Odo hitmaker said, “It’s been tough, it is not a walk in the park, everybody wants you to give them attention.
It’s a lot of pressure, everybody demands the right amount of attention,” he said.
That notwithstanding, KiDi, born Dennis Nana Dwamena, says he is very grateful to his fans for being there for him.
“Without them there is no me, I am very very grateful to them for everything they do for me, listening to my songs and watching my videos, I am really grateful to them,” he said.
Showbiz asked him what the magic was that did the trick for him after he won MTN Hitmaker IV in 2015. “After Hitmaker I was still in school, I had to finish school and once I was done with it, everything started to fall in place and here we are,” he recalled.
KiDi is on the same record label, Lynx Entertainment, with MzVee and Kuami Eugene and the perception is that, though they are all doing well, the spotlight seems to be on Kuami Eugene but he totally disagrees.
“There is nothing like one person getting attention, everybody has their plan and the team has time for everybody,” he insisted.
After the success of his current single, Adiepena, KiDi hinted that the next song he is coming up with will blow everyone’s mind, “my next song is deadly, I am very excited about it and I can’t wait, I also have a lot of collaborations coming up so my fans should watch out for them,” he said.
When the 24-year-old is not busy in the studio or performing at shows, he spends his time watching movies.
He used to love painting as well but doesn’t do much of that these days.
KiDi is currently not dating and he doesn’t see it as much of a big deal.
He believes that when the time is right, he will find his partner but for now, he simply puts it this way, “ time will tell.”
He is an old student of Accra Academy and completed the University of Ghana. He looks up to people like Justin Timberlake, Kojo Antwi, Chris Brown, Bruno Mars and Usher.
KiDi won the Highlife Song of the Year at this year’s Vodafone Ghana Music Awards.
