Fans excited about new YOLO season

Season six of the popular youth-oriented television programme, You Only Live Once (YOLO) has been premiered with fans expressing excitement about the content.

Hundreds of fans thronged the Silverbird Cinemas in Accra for the premiering last Friday, January 20 and they seemed satisfied with the new season’s story line and production.

A number of them who spoke with Graphic Showbiz were full of praises for the new season which reflects the youthful vibes it has been projecting since it’s debut.

According to a patron Crystal Ampomaa Danfa, she had waited impatiently for the new season and was glad to know that it satisfied all her interests.

“Considering how long I had to wait for this one and how closely it matched my expectations, I didn’t even want to miss season 6. A new vibe is created by seeing fresh faces and new settings to the series,” she said.

“Well, I believe that the inclusion of education in COVID-19 and its ramifications is a good idea since it offers a different method of informing the public, and especially the young people, about getting the COVID-19 shot. It’s an excellent method to communicate with everyone in a language we can all understand in a supportive manner,” another patron,” Richard Dogbevi told Graphic Showbiz.

The Director General of the Ghana Health Service, Patrick Kuma-Aboagye who spoke to the press following the premiere  expressed excitement about the new season which aims to educate and delight millions of Ghanaians on proper heath care.

“The YOLO initiative is unique to the Ghana Health Service in that it offers a platform for open health discussions and information exchanges that highlight how the youth can relate to good health messages concerning disease prevention, maternal and child health, vaccines, and other topics.

This programme offers the opportunity to promote healthy behaviours and approaches in a way that is appealing and relevant to this key group,” he said.

YOLO is a follow-up to the well-liked Things We Do For Love in the early 20s. It has the likes of Jackie Appiah, Adjetey Anang, Majd Michel, Mawuli Semevor, Agnes Panfred, and a host of other young, talented actors as its cast.

The new season filmed primarily in Tamale and in several areas of Ghana’s capital, Accra addresses issues such as COVID-19, maternal and child health, disability, and other related topics

YOLO is produced by Farmhouse Productions Limited in collaboration with the National Population Council, Ghana Health Service, Ghana Education Service, and United States Agency for International Development (USAID).
