Ghana winger Fatawu Issahaku commonly known as Abdul Fatawu, is poised to make his mark in the Premier League football next season as Leicester City have finalized plans to converted his loan transfer into a permanent deal.
The Foxes have decided to use the €17 million buy option stated in the loan deal with Sporting Lisbon from Portugal. Sporting manager Ruben Amorim confirmed this, saying,
“We will make money. Talented players [including Fatawu Issahaku] who don’t adapt here will move to other clubs and give us added value, it’s our system.”
Issahaku faced challenges at Sporting after moving from his hometown club, Steadfast FC, in April 2022.
Despite signing a five-year contract with a €60 million release clause, he struggled to get regular playing time, leading him to look for opportunities elsewhere.

Issahaku joined Championship side Leicester City on a season-long loan in August 2023. Despite initial scepticism regarding his adaptation to the Championship’s demands, the winger has thrived.
Recently, he clinched the title of Leicester City’s Young Player of the Season, showcasing his prowess by netting six goals and providing 13 assists, a contribution instrumental in securing the Foxes’ promotion to the Premier League.
Channeling his attention to the forthcoming season, Issahaku looks forward to making his Premier League debut, which he sees as a fitting reward for his hard work and excellent performance.
In the meantime, Steadfast FC stand to gain from Issahaku’s permanent transfer to Leicester City.
