FIFA has officially named Saudi Arabia as the host of the 2034 men’s football World Cup. Spain, Portugal, and Morocco will jointly host the 2030 tournament.
FIFA also scheduled three matches of the 2030 World Cup to take place in Argentina, Paraguay, and Uruguay to honor the competition’s 100th anniversary.
During an Extraordinary Congress meeting on Wednesday, FIFA finalized these decisions, with all 211 member nations participating virtually.
Votes were conducted through acclamation, with representatives clapping on camera to signify approval.
The two-part voting process first selected Uruguay, Paraguay, and Argentina as centenary match hosts before confirming Spain, Portugal, and Morocco as the main 2030 hosts. In a separate vote, Saudi Arabia was awarded the 2034 World Cup.
This marks a significant moment for the global football community as FIFA balances tradition with future development by celebrating its centenary in South America while extending its reach into the Middle East.
