FIFA President invites Akufo-Addo to World-cup finals

FIFA President Gianni Infantino has extended an invitation to the president of Ghana Nana Akufo-Addo, to watch the finals of the 2018 World Cup in Russia.

France and Croatia will tomorrow battle for the champions of the Russia edition of the 2018 world cup.

According to reports, the president of Ghana would use the visit to meet with FIFA’s president over Ghana’s football matters.

Football activities in Ghana have been halted following a court action by government seeking for the dissolution of the Ghana FA after the screening of Anas Aremyaw Anas’ ‘Number 12.

The documentary sought to expose the deep-seated corruption in football affairs in Ghana including corrupt acts by referees and leading members of the Ghana FA including Kwesi Nyantakyi

CAF and FIFA have since appointed a two-member liaison team to oversee the affairs of football in particular reference with the national team duties.

The world body of football matters has after banned Mr. Kwesi Nyantakyi over a 90-day period while it still delves deeper into the matter of corruption and bribery in Ghana football.

President Akufo-Addo who remains strong in his resolve to dissolve the GFA in order to sanitize the sport will now have an opportunity to make his case before the FIFA President.

Definite measures on the way forward of Ghana football is expected to be announced after the meeting this weekend
