The Normalization Committee to run Ghana Football for the next six months has been announced. The announcement of the Normalization Committee came off today, Thursday September 12, 2018 at the Ghana Football Association Secretariat.
The Committee as announced will be led by Dr. Kofi Amoah, who was the CAF/FIFA liaison team head and will be deputized by former Airtel Chief Executive Officer Lucy Quist.
Other members of the committee are Lawyer Duah Adonten, a former Kotoko Board member with Naa Odofoley Nortey completing the list.
Alhaji MND Jawula, who was expected to be part of the team has been excluded following heavy criticisms from the general public. A fifth member is expected to be included later after some consultations between FIFA and the Committee.
The Normalization Committee, which according to FIFA should not exceed end of March 2019, will have its core duties being to:
• To run the GFA’s daily affairs and co-operate with the task force once it has been set up by FIFA,CAF and the Government of Ghana;
• To review the GFA Statuses to ensure compliance with the requirements of FIFA and CAF particularly article 15 of the FIFA’s Statutes;
• Once the GFA Statutes meets the requirements of Fifa and Caf, this Normalization Committee will organize and conduct the elections of the GFA Executive Committee on the basis of the revised GFA Statutes.
Fifa says it retains the right to remove/add any members of this Normalisation Committee. Monthly update reports will be sent to Fifa and CAF.
FIFA member Amaju Pinnick of Nigeria and Victor Mosengo arrived in Accra on Tuesday to ensure the members of the committee meet the integrity standard set by the World Governing body.
The world football governing body, announced last month, that it will appoint a Normalisation Committee to run the affairs of the Ghana Football Association(GFA).
