SCORES OF people, including women and children, have been displaced after a fire gutted a 13 bedroom house at Anloga in the Oforikrom Municipality.
The inferno, which started around 2pm on Saturday, was said to have also consumed a number of shops and all the valuable items that were being kept in them at the time.
It took the intervention of the personnel of the Ghana National Fire Service (GNFS) before the dangerous inferno was eventually doused to avert further destruction.
Unfortunately, before the inferno was quenched, about 13 bedrooms and some shops in the affected house, had already been consumed by the dangerous blaze.
DO1 Amos Abban, the Manhyia Fire Commander, speaking to newsmen, said his outfit has commenced investigations but they were yet to determine the cause of the fire.
However, he said considering the way the fire travelled fast and the fact that the house looks very old, he suspects electrical fault may have accounted for the fire outbreak.
“The house looks old and the rate at which the fire spread fast gives an indication that perhaps that wires are old and that may have led to the fire outbreak”, he disclosed.
DO1 Abban advised house owners and the public to engage professional electricians to check wires in their houses at least every 15 years, to avert disaster.
