AN EARLY morning fire has burnt down a compound house at Bantama and destroyed several valuable items, valued at thousands of Ghana Cedis.
The fire, which started around 6am on Tuesday, destroyed items such as musical instruments, home appliances, iron, undisclosed amount of money and others.
The cause of the inferno was not immediately known as personnel of the Ghana National Fire Service (GNFS) have started investigations to figure out the cause.
Eye witnesses noted that the affected house contains rooms and shops. Suddenly, the inferno started from one of the rooms in the spacious house around 6am.
An alarm was suddenly raised as people in the boisterous community rushed to the scene to offer a helping hand to help douse the inferno but to no avail.
When things were getting out of hands, personnel of the GNFS were called from the Komfo Anokye Teaching Hospital (KATH) to come and support.
The fire fighters eventually managed to put out the fire but it was too late as a major damage had been caused in the house already.
About three rooms and five shops that contained items such as home appliances, musical instruments and others were destroyed.
Investigations are underway to find the cause of the fire.
