OHWIM AMANFROM, a community in the Ashanti Region, was thrown into a state of mourning on Monday night over the death of a pregnant mother and her two children, who were consumed by an inferno whilst they were fast asleep.
The pregnant woman, according to sources, goes by the name Philo, and she was trapped and killed with her daughters by the fire.
The blaze just started from the room where Philo, 37 and two her children, aged seven and 9, were sleeping around 11:15pm.
Philo’s eldest child, aged about 15 years old, who was sleeping in a different room, heard her mother and siblings crying for help.
The girl drew the attention of other inhabitants of the house and the community, who rushed to the house to help save Philo and the kids.
Try as they did, unfortunately, the people could not douse the blaze and save Philo and the two children, who were killed by the inferno.
Later on, personnel of the Ghana National Fire Service (GNFS) were called to the scene to quench the fire but it was too late as Philo and kids had died already.
The burnt bodies of the trio have since been deposited in a morgue as investigations to unearth the exact cause of the fire is currently underway.
Meanwhile, the inferno also caused extensive damage to the house and items that were being stored in it.
