Fire works at boat golden jubilee tennis

TENNIS FANS that trooped to the 4 Garrison Officer’s Mess Tennis Club in Kumasi on Friday, were treated to beautiful tennis skills, which was in full display.

The was when ‘Boat Golden Jubilee Tennis Competition’, a one-day tennis tournament, was held to mark the 50th birthday of Augustine Boateng Nkrumah aka ‘Boat’.

Boat, who is one of the pioneers of Mess Tennis, was celebrating his Golden Jubilee birthday and he decided to organize the tennis competition to make it grand.

The one-day event, which was structured in the singles and doubles categories, saw top tennis stars at Mess Tennis, putting up mind-blowing performances.

In the end, Nana Atakorah, Amakom Kontinhene, edged out Isaac Owusu, a top an intelligent tennis star, 6-4 to emerge as the champion in the singles category.

The game, which was full of fireworks, initially seemed to be going the way of Isaac Owusu, but Nana Atakorah, turned the tables upside down, to snatch a late win.

In the Doubles category, Team Joshua Mensah and Nana Sarpong humbled Team Samuel Ampadu Kyei aka ‘Kyikyiss’ and Robert Tetteh 7-5 to carry the day.

Augustine Boateng Nkrumah thanked God for blessing him to attain 50 years in life, saying “on my Golden Jubilee birthday, I decided to organize the tournament to celebrate with my friends”.

The winners of the competition took home Hampers, T-Shirts and others precious items.
