The Ghana National Fire Service (GNFS) has confirmed that seven of its officers got injured when a fire tender from the Kade Fire Station was involved in an accident at Otwenkwanta, Sunday morning on the outskirts of Kade in the Eastern Region while responding to an emergency.
A statement issued by the GNFS and signed by its Public Relations Officer, ACFO Timothy Osafo-Affum said two of the crew members are in a critical condition at the Kede Government Hospital
It continued that five other crew members were injured and are on admission at the Akwatia St. Dominic’s Hospital.
The statement said only one crew member escaped unhurt.
“The cause of the accident is being investigated. . Our thoughts and prayers are with the injured firefighters and their families. We commend their bravery and wish them speedy recovery”, the statement noted.
It said the GNFS remains committed to serving the public and also ensure the safety and well-being of its personnel.
