Liverpool have announced that Roberto Firmino has signed a long-term contract with the club.
Firmino has netted 27 times this season and assisted 16 more to fire Liverpool to the brink of a top-four spot in the Premier League and on the verge of the Champions League final.
“It was an easy decision,” Firmino told Liverpool’s website. “The club have taken me in in an incredible way and I’ve grown a lot here with my work with the support of the whole team. I am very, very happy here.
“Everything fits in the best possible way. My teammates are fantastic and I am very grateful to be able to play with them at this club.
“I love to play for Liverpool FC. The fans are excellent and fantastic in how they support us all the way. They support us throughout the games and the work they do during the match is beautiful.”
The Brazil international has made 140 appearances, scoring 50 goals, since moving to Liverpool from Hoffenheim in summer 2015.
And he praised the impact Jurgen Klopp has made on developing his game.
“The manager helped me a lot after he arrived here,” Firmino added in an interview with LFC TV. “The manager coming to the football club was not only good for me, but for the whole team.
“We’ve grown a lot and now we are showing that with the results on the pitch.”
