First Lady Enstooled Queen In Ada
The first lady of the Republic of Ghana, Her Excellency Rebecca Odaakor Akufo-Addo, has been enstooled as Development Queen of the Ada Traditional Area, for her sterling contribution towards furthering the course of humanity.
The ceremony took place at this year’s Asafotufiami durbar ground at Big Ada where the First Lady graced the occasion as the Special Guest of Honour. As part of the colourful ceremony, Aunty Berky was adorned with a beautiful traditional Kente, sandals with adorable beads.
The enstoolment was necessitated by the recognition of her numerous social interventions, particularly in the areas of health and education, which has gained her an international repute.
Rebecca Akufo-Addo is the brain behind the 21-bed Neonatal Intensive Care Unit, (NICU) and the 20-bed Paediatric Intensive Care Unit (PICU), at the Korle-Bu Teaching Hospital to provide quality and adequate healthcare to children.
The First Lady also assisted in the expansion of the Achimota Primary School, where she had her early education, launched the ‘Reading to learn and Learning to read project’ to whip up reading habit among pupils, among other initiatives.
Speaking to the media, the Queenmother of the Ada Kudzragbe Clan, Naana Ohui Amettor, who performed the enstoolment rite, said: ‘l performed the tradition on behalf of all the Queens of Ada, and sought the opportunity to implore young ladies of the Ada Traditional Area to emulate the good works of the First Lady’.
She said she also asked all ladies to prioritize their education and career building to propel them to positions of prominence in Ghana, Africa and the world as a whole.
Henceforth, Mrs. Rebecca Akufo-Addo will be known as Naana Ode Opeor Kabukie l, which literally means ‘the woman who fulfills her promises’.
