Chief Justice Sophia Akuffo, has given the Wa Municipal Chief Executive a six-month ultimatum to construct a new District Court for the regional capital or have the dilapidated temporary court shut down.
The Chief Justice expressed shock and disbelief at the ramshackle court when she visited the area recently.
Ms Akuffo is on a three-day tour of the Upper West Region to see at first hand, the state of the courts in that part of the country, with the view to finding solutions to the challenges facing justice delivery there.
More than half of the Wa District court is covered with broken chairs and tables.
