Five persons are feared dead following Tuesday morning rains in some parts of Accra.
One person has been confirmed dead as a military team has retrieved the body of one deceased person said to have died after he was electrocuted during the downpour.
The team is moving to the areas with speed boats to help rescue some of the residents in homes filled with floodwater.
The downpour, which lasted for hours left many people around the Kwame Nkrumah Circle Interchange and adjoining communities displaced.
Some areas affected include Adabraka Sahara, Adabraka Timbaland, Adabraka Aponkye, Odawna, Kingsby Junction, Graphic Road, Agbgbloshie, Avenor, Dansoman and surrounding areas.
Some of the residents of Adabraka said that they started seeing a lot of water rushing through their drains even before the rains started.
In Achimota, many residents have been left stranded, with rubble washed onto the street.
Some of them have left their homes to seek refuge under the Achimota overpass.
Vehicular traffic has also been blocked along the Kwame Nkrumah Circle Interchange and other link Accra Santa Maria
Meanwhile, the Ghana Meteorological Agency has also warned of a rainstorm which is expected to hit the eastern and coastal areas of the, Tuesday, June 9, 2020.
A statement from the Agency said, although the “thunderstorm” will affect the eastern portions of the country, most places in the coast are also expected to be affected.
