Flood Kills One in Ashanti

AT LEAST one person has been confirmed dead following heavy floods at Abuakwa Dadiease, after a heavy downpour two days ago.

The identity of the deceased person was not immediately known but he was said to have been washed away by the flooding water.

Unconfirmed reports indicate that the deceased person was walking on a weak bridge when it suddenly caved in.

One other person, who was with the deceased at the time of the accident, was rescued on time and rushed to the hospital with minor injuries.

Even though there were reports two people might have died as a result of the flood, the Ashanti Regional NADMO Coordinator, Kwabena Nsenkyire, speaking on radio, insisted one person had been confirmed dead.

He blamed the floods in Kumasi on those who throw garbage into gutters and open drains.

Meanwhile, the body that was washed away had been found and deposited at the morgue awaiting autopsy, the paper was informed.
