Kisika Foundation, a non-governmental organisation with focus on the marginalised in society, has presented assorted items to children on admission at the Wa Regional Hospital.
The items donated included sanitary items, toys, walkers and clothing.
Rationale
Presenting the items, the founder of Kisika Foundation, Erika Kisika Adumbireh, said the objective of the foundation was to bring smiles to the marginalised and poor and to make them feel like part of the community.
She said it was in this vein that she decided to extend a helping hand to children on admission at the children’s ward of the hospital and those at the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit at the Wa Regional Hospital.
The gesture, she said, was for the children and their parents to know that people “care about them and wish them well.”
She said it was not to show that she had enough but she was just sharing the little she has with the rest of the people.
Appreciation
Receiving the items on behalf of the beneficiaries, a doctor at the Paediatric Unit, Dr Matilda Akanzum, expressed the hospital’s appreciation to the foundation for thinking of the kids on admission at the hospital.
She said the items would go a long way to put smiles on their faces, lessen their plight, uplift their spirit and help in their healing.
