FREDDIE BLAY has explained why he is not contesting for the ruling New Patriotic Party (NPP) National Chairman position again after winning the slot for two terms in a row.
“I am not contesting for the revered NPP chairmanship position again because I have been in office for two terms, which is enough for me.
“I believe I have done my best so I have to leave for new limbs and minds to take over. That’s why I am not contesting again”, he explained.
On reports that his decision is to prevent a defeat, he sated again that “I don’t fear the election, but upon a sober look and reflection, I have to pave way now for others to take over”.
Speaking in an interview with Oyerepa Television, Freddie Blay stated that he is not a power drunk person so he wanted to leave office in peace.
On reports that the NPP lost almost 40 MP seats in 2020 when he was the chairman, he said the NPP faced that polls with a team not one person.
Freddie Blay therefore stated that it would be wrong for anybody to single out one person for being the sole cause of the lost seats, saying “we lose and win together”.
About who he would be rooting for to take over as NPP chairman from him, he said “I don’t think it will be fair for me to openly pick one of them”.
However, in the National Organizer race, Freddie Blay stated categorically that he would in any day root for John Boadu to retain his position.
“John Boadu delivered when I worked with him and that is my honest and objective opinion”, he explained his decision to support John Boadu.
