Free Education Won Election 2016 For NPP – Spio Garbrah
The Free Education policy immensely helped the New Patriotic Party (NPP) to win the 2016 presidential polls, Mr. Spio Grabrah has established.
Mr. Garbrah, who is a top member of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), stated that the NPP had a more convincing campaign message than his party did.
Speaking on Accra based UTV, he said, “The free Senior High School (SHS) campaign message of the NPP carried a lot of weight and so the electorates embraced it with open arms in 2016.
“This message contributed to help the NPP wrestle political power from the NDC, which was the ruling government”, Mr. Garbrah added.
According to him, the NDC did not have a message powerful enough to convince the good people of Ghana, and that adversely affected the electoral fortunes of the party.
“The electorates believed the NPPs campaign message as against the NDCs message, which did not catch the attention of the electorates”, he said.
Mr. Garbrah said aside weak campaign message, voter apathy also contributed enormously to the NDCs shocking electoral defeat during the 2016 polls.
He noted that, NDC members who contested as independent candidates for parliamentary seats also caused the unexpected defeat of the NDC.
