A CLEAN up exercise, intended to stop the spread of diseases has taken place in the Manhyia South Constituency.
The six-hour long exercise saw scores of people sweeping the streets, clearing choked drainage systems and clearing bushy areas on Saturday.
The exercise specifically took place in the Afia Kobi Electoral Area. It started from Apagyafie and ended at House of Chiefs.
The Free Senior High School (FSHS) Regional Coordinators organized the event to support Education Minister, Dr. Matthew Opoku Prempeh.
Affectionately called Napo, the Education Minister is the Member of Parliament (MP) for Manhyia South Constituency in Kumasi.
The FSHS Regional Coordinators, who were having their quarterly review meeting in Kumasi decided to clean the area to honour Napo, their boss.
Kusi Boadum, the Bono FSHS Coordinator, said they were aware of Napo’s good works for the education sector so they decided to support his works.
He added that Napo has also transformed his constituency “and the cleanup exercise was to complement his exemplary works in the constituency”.
Kwame Agyapong, the FSHS National Coordinator, on his part, lauded Napo for his tireless efforts in making the FSHS policy successful.
He said the policy has benefitted virtually every household in the country, and it has helped to increase enrolment in schools.
Nana Tima Boakye, the FSHS Deputy National Coordinator, on her part, stated that the free SHS policy has come to stay to benefit the youth.
She said her group had learnt about Napo’s efforts to transform Manhyia South “and we organized the event to compliment his good works”.
Nana Tima Boakye appealed to the people in the Afia Kobi Electoral Area to always keep their surroundings clean in order to prevent diseases.
