The Ghana Police Service has assured residents at Wonder World Estates, Avenue Lincoln near the British High Commission at Ridge in Accra of safety concerning two tigers in the estate believed to be owned by business mogul, Nana Kwame Bediako, popularly known as Freedom Jacob Caesar.
According to the Police in a statement, they are working with the Wildlife Division of the Forestry Commission to relocate the two tigers.
In addition, the Police said a special team has been deployed to protect citizens in the affected area.
“Police have reached out to the Wildlife Division of the Forestry Commission and efforts are underway to relocate the animals to an appropriate facility. Whiles investigations continue, we would like to entreat all residents within the community to remain calm as we work with our stakeholders to ensure their safety” the police said.
This comes after some residents in the area expressed worry over the presence of the two tigers.
Some of the residents claim that “the animals stink. Those animals are held inside an apartment where there is no access to proper fresh air. As soon as the door is open, you sniff a strong unpleasant smell emanating from them,” one resident said.
