Comedian Funny Face born Benson Nana Yaw Oduro Boateng) has lauded officers of the Ghana Police Service for helping him out of depression while he was in their custody.
In a humorous manner, he recounted how the police got rid of his depression through good “beating”
Speaking in an interview with Kwaku Sintim-Misa on the KSM show, Funny Face praised the Inspector General (IGP) of the Ghana Police Service Dr. George Akuffo Damapre for ensuring that his depression disappeared.
“God bless Ghana Police! They are the best when it comes to beating depression out of you. Yes and shout-outs to the IGP. I have renamed him. Now his name is no more IGP Dampare, his nickname is “Was bodam aa 3b3 ti wa niso – if you’re mad, you will…
He stressed how the IGP and his high-ranking officers visited him in custody and were deeply worried about his sudden “waywardness”.
“He [the IGP] came to speak to me. And not just him oo. He came with big big policemen…COO, COP, CPP… everything…all the big men in the police who have posts. All of the came. They know you’re not like this. And seeing you go wayward [ was shocking to them],” he added.
In 2021, Funny Face was arrested by the police for issuing threats to people via social media. He had in one video threatened to kill Vanessa Nicole, his ex-wife and mother of his children. He would commit suicide about killing her.
The police had moved in swiftly and arrested him.
