Ga Mantse courts GNPC’s support to develop Ga State

In a notable demonstration of cooperation between traditional leadership and corporate influence, Ga Mantse, Nii Tackie Teiko Tsuru II, highlighted the significance of collective efforts in promoting community development during his meeting with the Chief Executive Officer of the Ghana National Petroleum Corporation (GNPC), Opoku-Ahweneeh Danquah, in Accra, on Thursday, October 12, 2023.

Accompanied by elders of the Ga Traditional Council (GTC), the Ga overlord emphasised the need for a robust and mutually beneficial collaboration between the national oil company and the GTC.

This collaboration aims to facilitate the achievement of various developmental objectives designed to enhance the quality of life and overall well-being of the people of Greater Accra.

The Ga Mantse noted that GNPC, as a key stakeholder in Greater Accra, is strategically positioned to serve as a development partner to the Ga state.

Exploring avenues for cooperation can bring about significant positive changes within the Ga community while respecting the host environment within which it operates.

During the meeting, the traditional leader articulated his vision for community advancement, which encompasses various facets such as infrastructure enhancement, educational initiatives, improved healthcare access, and economic empowerment.

He expressed, “The office of the Ga Mantse has on its top agenda the Ga Mantse Foundation, which includes several initiatives like the ‘Ga Girl Child Support Fund,’ the ‘Ga Mantse ICT and Skill Development Endowment Fund,’ and the ‘Ga-Dangbe Educational Fund.’

“These initiatives are designed to alleviate the challenging conditions faced by our Ga communities,” he noted.

He added: “Through a unified effort, the GTC and GNPC can bring about tangible and sustainable improvements in the lives of the Ga people and beyond.”

Opoku-Ahweneeh Danquah expressed his gratitude to the Ga Mantse and his delegation for the visit, considering it a significant step toward bridging the gap between traditional governance and corporate leadership.

He reiterated GNPC’s commitment to fostering community development through such partnerships and affirmed, “I assure all of GNPC’s unwavering support for the development of our communities and sustaining our collaboration with stakeholders like the GTC to enhance the well-being of the people in this region and the country.”

During the meeting, the Ga Mantse also took the opportunity to formally inform the GNPC CEO about the passing and funeral preparations for the Paramount Queen Mother of the Ga State, Naa Dedei Omaedru III, who passed away on December 26, 2022, at the age of 88.
