Ga Mantse To Ghanaians: We Accept Your Bold Solutions

His Royal Highness, Nii Teiko Tsuru II, the Ga Mantse has given approval to a set of practical solutions proposed by Vice President Mahamadu Bawumia to solve key challenges faced by the Ga and Dangbe people.

Dr. Bawumia, during a courtesy call to the Ga Mantse and the Ga Traditional Council, proposed solutions to solve the worrisome challenge of the Ga and Dangbe languages not being taught in some schools within the Ga State and the hurdles of land acquisition in Accra.

The Ga Mantse, in his response to the address by Dr. Bawumia, endorsed the proposed solutions and requested a social contract between government and the Ga State:

“As the occupant of the Ga Paramount stool, the custodian of Ga culture and traditions, I want to say, and just as you righty said, hosting the capital has not been easy. So we thank you that you have thought about solutions.  I always say that Accra has serious problems and needs serious people to solve these problems.  We are in line and in link with your solutions; let’s get them by.”

The King noted further: “come, December 7, if Ghanaians give you the nod, we want a social contract with the Ga people, we want that. We also want you to place in prime positions, Ga and Dangbe indigenes within your party so that they can effectively serve their purpose and promote our Ga culture and who we are.

“We believe that our ethnicity is dyeing and our language is almost erased like you rightly said. Solutions to enforce the GES bylaws that Ga and Dangbe is taught in this locality in on you. You have promised it; if you have the nod, we want to see the Ga and Dangbe taught in every classroom on Ga and Dangbe land”, the Ga Mantse added.

Vice President Bawumia, flag-bearer of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), in his address noted that Accra being the country’s capital has attracted an influx across the Regions and made its lands a prime target to an extend that indigenes cannot afford the high cost.

“There are a lot of issues of land that the Ga State has with the government and we have to resolve these issues and I am going to promise you that as President, I am going to sit down with you to resolve these issues in your favour”, Dr. Bawumia added.

He also mentioned the challenges of the Ga language goind extint and the struggle for jobs among Accra youth.

The Vice President noted further: “I have a lot of respect for Nii Ga and the Ga State. I want to work closely with you so that we can solve problems together. For me, I dream about solutions. I am always looking for how to solve problems and how to reduce sufferings.

“Everything I do is about solving problems. I want to work with you and I can assure you that if you give me the nod, I would help raise the opportunities and the standard of living of our people.”

Dr. Bawumia touched briefly on some initiatives undertaken by his government to make life better for Ghanaians as a whole:

“All of you have seen that we have built the Jamestown Habour and that is going to help the fishing community. But our fishermen have a problem with pre-mix fuel so I have come up with a new idea that because of the corruption involved in the pre-mix fuel distribution, let us move away from pre-mix fuel and go for outboard motor that uses solar power so our fishermen do not have to buy pre-mix fuel anymore.

“When the sun is shining, they have their fuel. We have brought it already and it was demonstrated in Apam, we are moving to Tema and other parts of Accra to demonstrate it. The solar powered out-board motor would make our fishermen very rich because they do not have to buy fuel anymore.” Dr. Bawumia noted.
