GaDangme Council condemns attack on Electrochem Ghana

The GaDangme Council has condemned the recent attacks on the premises of Electrochem Ghana Ltd, a subsidiary of the McDan Group, located in Ada.

According to the Council, the incident, which involved the invasion of the company’s warehouse, bungalows, and subsequent acts of vandalism and theft, is not only a criminal offence but also detrimental to the progress and development of the affected communities.

In a statement, signed by J. Ayikoi Otoo, President of the GaDangme Council, the Council expressed deep concern over what it described as an act of hooliganism by some irate youth.

The Council emphasised the need for a swift and thorough investigation by the relevant security agencies to ensure that the perpetrators are brought to justice.

They highlighted that such decisive action would serve as a deterrent to others who may contemplate similar unlawful acts in the future.

The GaDangme Council also took the opportunity to underscore the significant role that Electrochem Ghana Ltd. plays in the local and national economy.

“The GaDangme Council recognizes the significant role that Electrochem Ghana Ltd. plays in the economy of Ghana as well as the socio-economic development of Ada and the surrounding communities, particularly in providing jobs and fostering growth.

“Such attacks undermine the company’s ability to continue its operations and jeopardise the livelihoods of many,” parts of the statement read.

The Council also appealed to all members of the community to recognise the long-term consequences of such actions and to work collectively toward peace and stability and urged members to exercise restraint and avoid retaliatory actions that could escalate tensions.
