The Ghana Climate Innovation Centre (GCIC) has held a workshop on creating green business through Climate Smart Agriculture (CSA) at the Mensvic Grand Hotel in Accra.
CSA is an approach that helps to guide actions needed to transform and reorient agricultural systems to effectively support development and also ensure food security in a changing climate.
In view of this, the Ministry of Food and Agriculture (MoFA), in collaboration with GCIC, launched the CSA and food security action plan to present the methodology used for developing the action plan document.
Giving the presentation, the Head environment and CC unit of the Ministry of Food and Agriculture, Mr. Kingsley Amoako said, “the participatory data collection methods used includes the interviewing of individuals and institutions, participatory workshops- multi-stakeholder analysis and small group discussions”.
He said in the organization of the document, the CSA food security action plan was divided into seven sections which include the introduction, the linkages with the action plan and policy documents, programme areas of the agriculture and food security focus area, cross cutting issues, implementation arrangement, and monitoring and evaluation.
Mr. Amoako further revealed that there was a review of international, regional and national policies as well as participatory data collection methods.
At the end of the workshop, GCIC in collaboration with MoFA, launched the national CSA and food security action plan for the year 2016-2020.
