George Andah Recovering After Tragic Crash
Deputy Minister of Communications, George Andah is responding to treatment at the 37-Military hospital in Accra following a car crash on Saturday.
The Awutu Senya West MP’s vehicle collided with an articulated truck fully loaded with sand in a curve at Awutu-Loye on the Bawjiase road at Kasoa in the Central Region.
The Deputy Minister was heading towards Loye, a village near Gomoa Buduburam when the accident occurred.
Mr. Andah who recently questioned the rationale behind the recent tariff increase by the telcos was in the car with the driver, a bodyguard and a constituency executive from Awutu Senya West to interact with his constituents and attend other social functions.
The MP who has since the incident been airlifted to the 37 Military Hospital is making a steady recovery at the hospital sources have said.
They were transported to the St. Gregory Hospital at Kasoa where a helicopter was called in to airlift the injured to Accra for attention.
Meanwhile, Aide to the minister has denied rumors that the Mr. Andah has been flown out of the country for medical attention.
A post on the legislator’s official Facebook page maintained that he has not been flown to the U.K, South Africa or anywhere else outside Ghana.
The Buduburam-Jei river stretch of road which was being used by the Deputy Communications Minister was constructed some 15 years ago to be used as a bypass road to ease vehicular traffic during the construction of the main Kasoa – Cape Coast trunk road.
Since then no maintenance has been seen on that road, even though it is now widely used by motorists to connect to Swedru and Accra.
The driver of the double axles tipper truck has been arrested and detained at the Buduburam police station, and is undergoing interrogation, an eyewitness noted to Citi News.
